Sunshine Coast Bed Bug Treatment

Waking up itchy? Noticed strange bites or mysterious blood spots on your sheets? Yep—bed bugs might be crashing your sleepover. And no, it’s not because you’re dirty. These pests are professional hitchhikers with a taste for blood and a knack for hide-and-seek. Once they’ve settled in, they don’t exactly leave a forwarding address.

That’s where Shark Pest Control steps in. Based right here on the Sunshine Coast, we offer discreet, no-nonsense bed bug treatment that gets right into their tiny, creepy hideouts—no mattress unturned and no pillow left behind. Here's what we provide:

  • Safe, thorough & discreet treatment
  • Targets pests at all life stages
  • Stops reinfestation before it starts

We search seams, skirting boards, bed frames, and even behind power outlets—because apparently, bed bugs like real estate with electrical views. Using safe, effective treatments (and heat, if needed), we don’t just kick them out—we make sure they don’t leave a return address. Call 0427 616 282 for a free quote and take your bed back from the bloodsucking freeloaders.

Your Pests. Our Problem.

Don’t Let Them Bite

We know the saying sounds cute, but real bed bugs are less “nursery rhyme” and more “nightmare fuel.” They hide all day, feed all night, and multiply faster than bad TikTok trends. You won’t hear them. You won’t smell them. But you’ll sure feel them—usually around 3am when you're trying to get some sleep before work.

Here’s the worst part: one missed egg, and you’re back to square itchy. DIY sprays might take out a few stragglers, but unless you’re planning to burn the mattress and start fresh, it’s not enough.

At Shark Pest Control, we combine Sherlock Holmes-level sleuthing with proven chemical and heat treatments to hunt these pests down at every life stage—from egg to “oh no.” We treat every affected surface with precision, then help you prevent the next round before it starts.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the signs of a bed bug infestation?

Common signs include red, itchy bites (usually in a line or cluster), small blood spots on sheets, and tiny dark droppings on your mattress or bed frame. You may also notice shed skins or a musty odour. Bed bugs are great at hiding, so you often won’t see them—but if you’re being bitten at night, it's time to investigate.

  • How do bed bugs get into your home?

Bed bugs are hitchhikers. They often travel in luggage, second-hand furniture, backpacks, or even on clothing. You can pick them up from hotels, public transport, shared laundry facilities, or visitors who unknowingly carry them. Once inside, they spread quickly from room to room, especially in apartment buildings or multi-unit housing.

  • Is bed bug treatment safe for kids and pets?

Yes—when applied by licensed professionals, bed bug treatments are safe for both children and pets. We use targeted, low-toxicity products approved for residential use. You may be asked to vacate during and shortly after treatment, but your technician will give clear instructions for re-entry.

Flea Problems

For those of you who have a problem with fleas that you want treated then you need to know that this will most likely be more than one service. Especially if the problem is outside and even more so if you have sandy soil. Keeping it simple fleas generally have a 3 phase cycle so one treatment generally won’t work unless it is a confined area where the problem is.

If the problem is inside then it depends on if you have a lot of carpet or a lot of tiles. Tiles are easier to fix as the product will adhere to the tile and stay there for a long time, whereas carpet absorbs the treatment so it won’t last as long.

Fleas by their nature jump and even before hatching from an egg will be immediately attracted to movement i.e. you or your pet walking past then they hatch and then jump aboard. This is where the treatment comes in as directly after the treatment we want you to make lots of noise and movement like throwing the ball for the dog as the young fleas will sense the movement, hatch and whilst their skin is soft land on the treated tiles or carpet and that will kill them quicker. You may still (most probably) need more than one treatment if it is a bad infestation so keep that in mind.

Tick Problems

Ticks are something similar but we generally don’t get the scrub tick as much on the Sunshine Coast but we do get the paralysis tick. The problem with ticks is they walk around and travel long distances so any type of treatment of the yard is only temporary at best as the products will only kill what is there on the day then will be absorbed into the ground or washed away by rain. The best protection for your pets is a good quality treatment from your vet and we also supply tick/flea collars (one per treatment free) as part of our service.

TREATMENT

For the yard we blanket spray the whole yard and for inside we do the same over all floor areas. We recommend that you flea/tick wash your pet on the day of the treatment and have ready some sort of protection for the pet, either our collar or a good quality product from the vet. Then jump up and down a lot to hatch the eggs, give it a week and see if another treatment is required. There is no simple way to fix fleas and ticks so if you have had the problem for a long time then expect to pay more to fix it regardless of which pest company you use.
